Of course we woke up late, after a super late night… We checked out of our AirBnB after taking more pics from the amazing balcony. We then headed for breakfast at Cafe Crepe at 246 Queen Street West. It was a quaint little spot with great service and tasty food. I had the Florentine with bacon crepe. Ben had the Cafe Crepe Signature Omelette. I really wasn’t doing too hot at this point and had to rush down an alley to do my thing…
We then drove down to Habourfront Centre and I napped for the 10 minute ride there. Once we started walking around, I finally began feeling better! They had a free art exhibit that we walked through. We aren’t big into art, but it was free and interesting. They also had an outdoor ice skating rink right there on the lake too. Has we been feeling better, we would have rented some skates and done some laps on the rink. But instead, we watched some people take some spills on the ice LOL
While we were there, we noticed Amsterdam BrewHouse so of course we popped in for a drink and a snack. I loved the indoor atmosphere. It was cool and cozy. The pretzel bites with beer cheese were the perfect snack, along with a KLB Raspberry Wheat. I’m just a total sucker for anything raspberry! As we were leaving, it started to snow! It was such a beautiful site right there on the water.
From there, the trip slowed down, way down… The traffic getting back to Niagara was a bitch. The snow made the trip take double the amount of time. At about the half way point, we stopped in Burlington at Nickel Brook Brewing and picked up a couple Uber Raspberry Berliner beers. More raspberry! We had tried this beer last night at Bar Hop, our final pub stop, and it was divine!
Next stop was St. Catharines. We grabbed a snack and a coffee in their cute downtown area then went into Plan B Beer Works. This was a fairly new brewery and the first one we found that had board games and cards to play. While that’s a big thing at US breweries, we found that to not be the same in Canada. This was a quick stop before getting back on the road.
We made it to Niagara Falls and checked into the Embassy Suites. We were in a fallsview room. It was pretty awesome to lay in bed and look at the falls all lit up at night. This hotel was super busy and the area in general seemed very touristy. Not quite our thing, so I was happy we were only here one night. But we did receive quite a few vouchers worth while, like free drinks at their lounge, free passes to Screaming Tunnels and food discounts.
We went to eat at Syndicate Restaurant & Brewing. They had a great deal for $25 per person you got an app, main entree and dessert. I had the pumpkin soup, truffle and mushroom ravioli and pumpkin duo dessert. Everything was again delicious with great service. But I couldn’t finish it all! I was just blown away at how great everything was for a fraction of what the US would charge!
In hopes of burning off some of those consumed calories, we went for a long walk around the falls at night. It’s just as beautiful at night as it is during the day. We called it a night before midnight because our last full day was going to be a very long day! Stay tuned!
