There’s no shortage of food and restaurant options around Rincon; the hardest part is deciding which place to be sure to try. I had so many on my list, but with only 5 days it was impossible to hit up each one. We did have some phenomenal meals at the places we did get to. All of the places I write about below, I personally visited and would highlight recommend.
Where to eat:
1. Gylro – Just one block south of the town center, Gylro has delicious Greek food and a relaxing vibe. The inside is very open and dimly lit for a romantic dinner, but the back patio was my favorite. It was slightly sucked below the road behind the restaurant with lots of hanging plants, a wall mural, and eclectic decor. The popular menu item is building your own gyro. Or you can opt for an appetizer, a Latin take on traditional Greek dishes or try the baklava. I can personally say the olive appetizer, lamb gyro, and Mediterranean tacos were amazing. The lamb was cooked to perfection and so soft in both dishes.

2. Solicito Coffee Shop – Located in a food truck park, this coffee shop couldn’t be any cuter. They took the time to decorate the small seating area (which is covered) in a purple theme with flowers, murals, and even a vintage bicycle. Definitely some opportunities for social media photos here. I had a hot almond latte and the Fresh Sunshine Omelet. The latte was delicious (but honestly, there wasn’t a coffee in Puerto Rico that I didn’t love, so let’s just agree they know how to do coffee here!). The omelet was fresh made with lots of veggies (onion, pepper and mushrooms – my fave!) and was served with potatoes. It was a large portion for the price but not greasy and heavy. I enjoy less oil and butter in my cooking so it was filling without weighing me down to start my day.

3. El Despecho – Just a block off the Main Street, this quaint restaurant offers authentic Puerto Rican flavors in their dishes. While we only stopped in for a small bite to eat, many items on the menu sounded delicious. We tried the stuffed rabbit turnovers (empanadillas rellenas de fricase de conejo) which are often recommended and here and now I know why! And then we had the sweet plantain bites filled with ground beef (mini piononos) – these were so unique to me and unlike anything I had ever tried before. Combining sweet and savory, it was a delicious snack. My mother-in-law makes many traditional boricua dishes but I’ve never had this one before and would definitely have it again!
4. La Sirena – Not only does this cozy sushi bar serve up fresh food, but also offers creative tiki cocktails in fun, spirited drinkware. And the decor around the bar definitely suits the name, from old boat figureheads to whale knickknacks to mermaid wall art; it really is an atmosphere like none other. I always enjoy hot sake with my sushi no matter the outdoor temps. It paired perfectly with the edamame, Starving Surfer Roll (a customer favorite!), and Wak’N’Roll sushi. Fresh ingredients and the ocean-to-table sushi concept is what keeps people coming back. This is a great choice for date night or a night out with friends and family.

5. Rincon Beach Cafe – If you’re walking off Lala’s Beach and looking for something to cool you down, grab a Cabo Rojo Smoothie or an Açaí Bowl at Rincon Beach Cafe. In addition to what we ordered, the menu offers several coffees which can be made with whole, almond or coconut milk and a long list of “boosters” that can be added to any smoothie or bowl. The cafe is also a boutique that sells jewelry, beachwear, accessories, and more.
6. Lucky’s Bar & Grill – We stumbled upon this place while driving around Rincon and I’m so glad we did! Located off PR-115 about 2km from Rincon town center, this cute bar and grill offers a quaint and cozy indoor space with a larger, covered outdoor space. Making all of their sauces from scratch, ordering the wings was a must. We did half medium and half sweet garlic and also an order of the ahi tuna appetizer which was incredibly fresh and delicious. There were a couple locals at the bar that we struck conversation with and listened to many local tips and stories. Such a friendly laidback vibe; they’re also dog-friendly!
